Two special trains reach Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Two special trains carrying passengers from Delhi and Chennai halted at Guwahati Railway Station on Thursday night. According to information received, 175 passengers deboarded New Delhi-Dibrugarh down special train in Guwahati. On the other hand, 275 passengers from different districts of Assam got down at Guwahati Railway Station from Shramik special train from Chennai.

According to a Tweet of Assam additional director general of police (ADGP) for law and order GP Singh, the Shramik special train carried 558 people of Assam. Besides Guwahati, it has stoppages at Kokrajhar, Guwahati, Lumding and Badarpur. The train will finally disembark at Vairengte in Mizoram.

The passengers were received by respective district administration and sent for screening and quarantine.

“I have come home after two months. The journey was nice. There was no problem,” said a passenger.

A group of 9 workers from Golaghat district also deboarded the train at Guwahati Railway Station. They were brought to Bonani lodge of Kaziranaga by Golaghat district administration.

Earlier, health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that district administration would hire hotels, lodges, guest houses in every district to quarantine the returnees.
