Amidst Raas festivities, at least five people were killed and six others injured in two tragic road accidents in Assam’s Nalbari district on Wednesday night.
In the first accident, five people were killed while three injured when the car they were travelling rammed into the concrete railings of a bridge at Bankusi in Nalbari district.
The group of eight people was returning from a Raas function at Howly when the mishap took place.
The deceased have been identified as Jahedul Rahman, Ajit Chaliha, Rahul Ali, Srimanta and Shankar.
The injured have been identified as Abhijeet Kalita and Eyazul Rahman and been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in a critical condition.
In another incident, a woman was killed and two others grievously injured after their vehicle lost control and collided with the side railings of a highway at Ghograpar.
The deceased woman has been identified as Parishmita Kalita.
On the other hand, the two others injured were identified as Bhaskar Kalita and Sushmita Kalita.
The victim and the injured duo were returning to Nalbari from a Raas festival at Palashbari.
