Trump gives a thumbs-up to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

Guwahati: Ayusshman Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, which hit the theatres on February 21, is enjoying a positive reception at the box office.

But to everyone’s surprise, US President Donald Trump got into the mood on Friday ahead of his upcoming India trip has given a thumbs-up for the first gay rom-com movie of Bollywood.

The film, which deals with same-sex marriage, is based on the love story between two guys.

LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchel put out a Tweet appreciating Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, directed by Hitesh Kewalya.

Peter’s tweet caught US President Donald Trump’s attention, who lauded the film. Replying to his tweet, Trump wrote, “Great! (sic)”

His response comes at a time when the President is all set to visit India on February 24 along with First Lady Melania Trump.

Trump is not a regular advocate of gay rights, while some of his more right-wing supporters actively oppose them.

“I hope this is the beginning of President Trump’s genuine embrace of LGBT+ rights & not just a PR stunt,” Tatchell tweeted after.

The gay rom-com has unanimously received overwhelming response from the audience and critics alike.

On the year 2018 in a landmark judgment the Supreme Court of India scrapped a colonial-era ban on homosexuality.
