Tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai named new Chhattisgarh CM

GUWAHATI, Dec 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party Sunday named Vishnu Deo Sai as the new chief minister of Chhattisgarh. The decision was taken at the Chhattisgarh Legislature Party meeting today.

Speaking with reporters, Chhattisgarh CM elect Vishnu Deo Sai thanked PM Modi, Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda for bestowing their trust on him.

Deo Sai will be the first tribal Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh after former CM Ajit Jogi.

He was Union Minister of State for Mines, and Steel in the first Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and had served as State President of the party for Chhattisgarh from 2020 until 2022.

Deo Sai was elected MLA from Kunkuri defeated sitting Congress legislator UD Minj.

The BJP had registered a landslide victory in the recently-concluded assembly elections winning 54 of the 90 seats and dethroning the Congress from power.
