GUWAHATI: Former Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) student leader Sharjeel Imam has been sent to 4-day police custody by a Guwahati court.
Sharjeel who is accused of sedition for raising slogans to cut-off Assam from rest of the country was brought to chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court of Kamrup (Metro) district today.
The court has sent him to a 4-day police remand. The JNU Ph.D student is being interrogated by crime branch of Assam Police.
Imam remained silent to the questions of the reporters when he was brought to the court.
