GUWAHATI: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) is likely to decide on formation of a new political party at its state executive and delegation-level meetings to be held on February 27 and February 28 respectively in Guwahati.
Speaking to media persons, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath said, “We could sense the people’s willingness for a new political party. However, we will discuss this in our state executive and delegate-level meetings.”
On the other hand, general secretary of the students’ body Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “We will form a new political party if people want.”
“We are not above the people. The rise of alternative political force in Assam is inevitable if people want us to do so,” he added.
