TMC wins, but Mamata Banerjee loses Nandigram to Suvendu Adhikari by 1622 votes

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: Mamata Banerjee has led the incumbent Trinamool Congress (TMC) to a massive win with the party winning as many as 126 seats so far and leading in 92 other seats but the party supremo has lost her own seat in Nandigram to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Suvendu Adhikari.

The saffron party has so far won 32 seats and leads in 40 seats in what has turned out to be a bipolar contest and massively improving its 2016 tally of 3 seats.

Both the TMC and BJP have posted strong gains at the cost of the Congress-Left Front-ISF alliance which has put up an extremely poor show, leading in just two seats.Earlier, news agency ANI had reported that Banerjee has won by 1200 votes against her former protege and BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari.
