Three persons were killed and at least 10 others injured in a road accident at Krishnai in Assam’s Goalpara district today. The mishap took place when two SUVs collided with each other at the National Highway 26 and fell into a roadside marsh.
The two cars, a Mahindra Xylo (bearing registration number AS 25 CC 9280) coming from Goalpara and a Scorpio (AS 26 8247) that was coming from the other side, collided head on after which they plunged into the roadside marsh.

The two cars were being driven at considerable speed while visibility was also low following heavy rains.
The identities of the dead persons are yet to be ascertained. The injured passengers have been admitted to Goalpara Civil Hospital where they are being treated upon.
