Now an announcement by the Assam Public Works Department (PWD) to build a concrete road passing through Halda was welcomed in a unique fashion by the residents of the area. The residents of Halda celebrated the moment by coming out and dancing and singing Bihu turning it into a joyful cultural event.

The concrete road that will be built with a World Bank grant of worth Rs.2 crore 37 lakh has brought joy to the residents of Halda.

The inauguration was done by BJP MLA from Sipajhar, Binanda Kumar Saikia in the presence of PWD officials. This new road project has brought much-needed relief to this interior village in Assam.

“We are very happy once completed, this road will reduce travel distance by at least 14-15 km. We have been demanding this road for a long time. We are glad that Government has paid attention to our demands and took steps to construct the road,” said a resident.
