Sudarsan Pattnaik pays tribute to Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee with sand art


Guwahati: Renowned artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid tribute to former President Pranab Mukherjee with a sand art on Puri Beach, Odisha.

Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness. He was in a deep state of comatose due to complications following a lifesaving surgery. He was 84.

Sudarsan Pattnaik created a portrait of Pranab Mukherjee using sand. “Tribute to Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee,” he added the words to his sand art. He also used some flowers in his sand art to pay his tribute to the former President of India.

“Heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna #PranabMukherjee, former President of India. My SandArt at Puri beach in Odisha. (sic),” Sudarsan Pattnaik wrote as he shared an image of the tribute.

Pranab Mukherjee served as India’s President between 2012 and 2017. His career as a politician spanned over five decades. As a Congress leader, Pranab Mukherjee held an array of top cabinet posts, including finance, defence, home, among others.

After being unwell for some days, Pranab Mukherjee underwent major emergency surgery for brain clot at R&R Hospital in Delhi on August 10. Since then, he had been on ventilator support. He had also tested positive for Covid-19 the same day.
