GUWAHATI: On May 16 night, four more COVID19 positive cases were detected – 2 from Guwahati, 1 each from Sonitpur & Sivasagar, taking total cases to 95. Active cases are 50.
“In view of the developing situation, I urge elderly (65+) & children below 10 to strictly stay inside, unless very important,” said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The health minister added,” Meanwhile, in Guwahati where two cases were detected, very late on Saturday (around 2 am), we went to Kalapahar Quarantine Centre to ensure smooth evacuation of a COVID positive patient. The other person was evacuated from Fatashil Ambari. Both have been admitted to MMCH.”

The Sonitpur patient is at the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.
The Sivasagar patient is at Jorhat Quarantine Centre.
