GUWAHATI, Jan 11: Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today cleared the air on reports of singers and artistes and Bihu committees coming under the ambit of GST saying Bihu committees will not have to pay even a paisa as GST while only those professional singers and artistes whose annual income exceed Rs 20 lakh will have to pay GST.
While singers and artistes whose annual income is between Rs 20 and Rs 50 lakh will have to pay 6% GST, those whose annual income exceeds Rs 50 lakh will have to pay 18% GST.
Sarma also clarified that folk artistes will be excluded from GST’s ambit.
