Sikkim: CM Golay announces year long maternity leave,1 month paternity leave for teachers

Guwahati: In a bit of relief, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay on Sunday announced to provide teachers with a one-year maternity leave  for female teachers and extended the paternity leave to one month for male teachers of government schools.

During the maternity leave of the female teachers, one substitute teacher  will be appointed, said the Chief Minister while making the announcement during Children’s Day celebration where state awards were given to teachers for their services and achievements. at Saramsa near Ranipool, Sikkim. 

CM Golay  highlighted on the good quality of education system in Sikkim.

He further added that main objective of his administration is to provide the best campus, competent lecturers and provide best facilities to students along the state.

The Sikkim government has decided to start computer education from the fifth grade and would employ computer literacy instructors appropriately, according to the Sikkim Chief Minister.

During a programme organized at Saramsa Garden, Ranipool, the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) prospectus were handed to students of Poklong Kamrang constituency.

According to the sources, the Chief Minister also launched the online portals for the Sikkim Teachers Eligibility Test (STET), the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat, the Sikkim Chapter, the Private School Registration Portal and AAGAZ (Covid-19 school readiness projects).

During the events, teachers were also presented with State Prizes 2021, as well as honourable awards for excellent students and teachers.
