Shreyas Iyer becomes 1st Indian to score century and fifty in debut Test

Guwahati: Shreyas Iyer became the first Indian cricketer to score a hundred and fifty on Test debut on Sunday (November 28).

Shreyas achieved the feat during the ongoing first Test match between India and New Zealand at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

On Day 2, during India’s first innings, Shreyas had become the 16th Indian batter to score a century on his Test debut.

On Day 4, during India’s second innings, Shreyas completed his half-century to unlock another achievement.

Shreyas is also the third Indian batter to register 50-plus scores in both innings of a debut Test match after Dilawar Hussain and Sunil Gavaskar.

Earlier, Shreyas had become the second batter after Gundappa Viswanath to score a century on his Test debut at Kanpur. He is also the third Indian batter to score a century on debut against New Zealand.

Shreyas scored 105 runs off 171 balls in the first innings and 65 runs off 125 balls in the second innings of his debut Test match.
