GUWAHATI, Feb 3: A CCTV video of a shop in Guwahati city’s Ganeshguri locality that shows three woman shoplifting several commodities kept for sale is generating shock among people.
The video, dated yesterday (February 2), shows the women — all of them well-dressed and appearing to be from decent and well-to-do families — entering the shop and then inspecting various commodities as if showing interest in purchasing them.
At least two of them were later seen in the video shoplifting a few items kept near the entrance of the shop. The third woman was seen entering inside the shop but the CCTV installed outside could not capture her activities.
The shop sold cookery and other kitchen items.
It was after the shopkeeper checked the CCTV that the theft came to light following which they reported the matter to the nearest Dispur Police Station.
Police have begun a hunt for the three kleptomaniacs.
