GUWAHATI: Hemen Das, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of North Salmara in Bongaigaon district extended his helping hand to an economically backward family whose sole bread earner succumbed to COVID-19 recently.
Gautam Baruah, a daily wage earner of Chautaki village passed away after being infected with COVID-19. After coming to know about the plight of Baruah’s widow and son, SDPO Das came forward to help the family.
Das provided some food items to the family on Monday. The act of kindness of the police officer has drawn commendations from various sections of the society.
