Sarbananda Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma condole Ram Vilas Paswan’s death

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his grief over the demise of union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, Sonowal mourned, “Saddened to learn about the demise of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan ji, a stalwart of Indian politics who contributed immensely towards the development of the nation. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family members and well-wishers in this hour of grief.”

Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also condoled the death of the veteran leader.

“End of an era! Sad at the passing away of senior leader, illustrious Parliamentarian and Union Cabinet Minister Shri Ram Vilas Paswan. His life & times are a lesson of how strong determination can take one to the zenith of one’s career,” Dr. Sarma tweeted.

The union Minister and founder of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Paswan passed away on Thursday following illness. He was 74 at the time of demise.

“Papa, you are no more in this world now but I know that wherever you are, you are with me. Miss you Papa,” Chirag Paswan, son of the veteran leader said in a tweet.

Ram Vilas Paswan was Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the Narendra Modi government. He was also a minister in the previous NDA government.

He had undergone heart surgery in a Delhi hospital.

Paswan was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977 on a Janata Party ticket from Hajipur in Bihar.
