Santhal Colony Youth Festival 2021 concludes

Guwahati: The three-day Santhal Colony Youth Festival 2021 concluded on Saturday(18 December).

More than five thousand people attended the three-day event held at Mornai Tea Estate playground in Kokrajhar district of Assam.

Chief guest of the event, BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro during his speech informed that BTC government will soon set up a Handloom Cluster for the locals, so that they can easily produce or manufacture their traditional clothes and also spoke about setting up a music school for the upliftment of the Santali tradition and culture. Boro also launched a Santali web-portal in the event.

On the first day, events like art competition, essay writing competition, poem recitation, singing competition, quiz competition, dancing competition took place .

On the second and third day, events like shayari competition, mono act competition, archery competition, kudum competition, stand up comedy competition, tiria oron competition, tumdak-tamak competition, nagada ru competitiom, traditional ramp walk took place.

Along with BTC CEM Pramod Boro, many other guests including Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary, Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary, EM Wilson Hasda, MCLA Sajal Kr. Singha were present on the last day.

Speaking to News Live, EM Wilson Hasda said, “This initiative by Bakajunu is magnificent. Such events encourage our youths to achieve their dreams and they get a platform to showcase their talent. There are many underpriviledged kids who are very talented but they never get the oppurtunity to show their talent. Events like this will work like a doorway for those youths.”

Many other Santal artists including Digeer Soren, Singrai Soren and Romeo Baskey from West Bengal and Jamshedpur respectively were present at the event as guest performers.

Also, senior santali artists like Bharat Tudu and Rejina Hembrom were also present in the youth festival.
