Rishav Himatsingka, owner of a car dealership in Guwahati who was accused of slapping an employee and forcing him to kneel down and hold his ears as punishment, has been arrested by Dispur Police after he was picked up from a resort in Sonapur.

A photograph had gone viral on June 5 that showed the employee of Mukesh Hyundai, owned by Rishav Himatsingka, kneeling down and holding his ears as punishment while some other employees were seen cutting a cake as part of some celebrations. The employee was also reportedly slapped by the proprietor following a minor issue.

The photograph led to angry reactions with police registering three cases against him at Dispur Police Station.
Various organizations, including the AJYCP, along with employees of the car dealer had staged angry protests demanding the arrest of Rishav Himatsingka.

“He had been evading arrest. We came to know that he was at a resort in Sonapur. A police team picked him up from the resort following which he was later arrested,” a police official said.
