Rangapara BJP MLA Rajen Borthakur passes away

GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Rangapara BJP MLA Rajen Borthakur passed away at a private nursing home in Tezpur Tuesday night. He was 54.

He was admitted to the nursing home earlier in the evening in a critical condition and was put on life support.

Despite best efforts by doctors to revive his health, he breathed his last at 10:29 pm.

Borthakur was first elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Tezpur in 2011. He did not contest the 2016 assembly elections but was elected from Rangapara constituency in the by-elections in October this year.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and several other political leaders condoled the untimely demise of Rajen Borthakur.
