Hundreds of women activists led by All India Mahila Congress president and Silchar Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev took to the streets and burnt effigies of the Minister of State (Railways) seeking his immediate resignation besides shouting slogans against the BJP-led governments, both in Assam and at the Centre.
It is clear that Rajen Gohain Minister of Railway from Assam is misusing his power to intimidate the lady who alleges rape against him. His voice recording uses disgusting language & threats to her husband. #BJPSeBetiBachao pic.twitter.com/CIeA2nV9MT

Congress activists alleged that the Nagaon MP was misusing his powers to intimidate the complainant and cried foul over using “disgusting language & threats to the husband”.
Incidentally, a woman had lodged an FIR at Nagaon Sadar Police Station, accusing the union minister of molestation and rape. Nagaon Police had registered a case against the Railway MoS (Case No. 2592/18) under sections 417, 376 and 506 of IPC following the FIR lodged on August 2.
Gohain termed the allegations a political conspiracy to malign his image.
