PUBLISHED:

Golaghat: The Numaligarh Refinery Limited employees, Petroleum Mazdoor Union and Driver Association carried out a protest on Saturday in front of Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s marketing terminal against the Central Government’s privatisation plan of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

The protesters demanded that the central government should withdraw the decision of the privatisation of BPCL.

“Once BPCL will be privatized, the Numaligarh Refinery will automatically go into the hands of private company. Hence, we demand to cancel the privatisation of the company on immediate basis or else we will continue with these protests across the state” said one of the protesters.

The protesters also claimed that the central government has already decided to hand over BPCL to some private companies from The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and India’s Reliance group.

“By wearing black badges we observe this day to be a Black day” said another protester.
