President Murmu arrives in Assam on Two-day tour

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Jagadish Mukhi welcomed President of India Droupadi Murmu at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam.

President Droupadi Murmu has arrived in Assam for a two-day visit.

President Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate a supercomputer facility ‘Param Kamrupa’ and a high-power active and passive component laboratory ‘SAMEER’ at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Guwahati premises in presence of CM Sarma, Governor Mukhi and state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta; along with other dignitaries.

The event at IIT-Guwahati will also include the virtual inauguration of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital and a foundation-stone laying ceremony for Zonal Institutes of National Institute of Virology in Assam’s Dibrugarh and Jabalpur in Madhya.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Honoured to receive Adarniya President Smt Droupadi Murmu ji at LGBI Airport, Guwahati. The Hon’ble President will inaugurate several projects and lay foundation stones for some more during the visit. Grateful for her gracious presence in Assam.”

On the second day of her visit, the President will virtually inaugurate the state government’s 3000 Model Anganwadi Centres, launch the Mission Saubhagya and will lay the foundation stone for 100 Model Secondary Schools for the tea garden areas.

Besides, the President will also inaugurate several sections of National Highways (NHs) in Assam and will lay the foundation stone of Indian Oil Limited (IOL)’s Rail-Fed Petroleum Storage Depot at Moinarbond at Silchar including a modern cargo-cum-coaching terminal at Agyathuri near Guwahati virtually from Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

It’s worth noting that the President – Draupadi Murmu will be on a two-day official visit to the northeastern state from October 13-14, which will be her first visit to Assam after assuming the highest post.
