GUWAHATI: To motivate entrepreneurship among the women in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro has provided umbrellas to women orange vendors at Karigaon, the unofficial gateway of Kokrajhar town. Impressed by the hard work of the women, Boro personally gifted them the umbrellas.
Boro also urged people to purchase oranges from the women street vendors.
“My small personal gift to women Orange street vendors at Karigaon, Kokrajhar. I am simply amazed by their hardwork. When you pass through this road, kindly purchase their oranges in order to strengthen their livelihood,” Pramod Boro wrote on his official Facebook page.
The umbrellas have been inscribed with—“Welcome to Kokrajhar, City of Peace.”
After assuming office of the chief executive member (CEM) of the BTC, Pramod Boro declared Kokrajhar as the city of peace.
Boro appealed everyone to grow white roses to give meaning to the name of the city.
“Happy to announce that Kokrajhar as ‘City of Peace’ immediately after the swearing in as 4th Chief of BTR. Humble appeal to all the residents/business establishment/hotels/restaurants etc. of Kokrajhar to grow White Roses as the symbol of the name of the City. Our concerned line department will assist anyone seeking help in this noble task,” He wrote on Facebook.
