GUWAHATI: Senior BJP leader and Assam Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa assured that a positive environment is also developing vis-à-vis the protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Dr. Sarma said, “We knew that something will definitely happen. People will protest against CAB. But, between all these protests Home Minister Amit Shah had a fruitful discussion with all the major organisations and political stakeholders of the Northeast. Almost 99 per cent are protesting. But amid protests we also had discussions. There was a one-and-a-half hour discussion as well.”

“I believe a positive environment is developing after the Amit Shah meeting. Also, the extent of protest will be much less than expected. The discussion with civil society groups will definitely bring a positive impact on the society. I believe that Amit Shah’s speech on 9th December in the parliament will bring more positive impact,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
