GUWAHATI: Polling for the election to Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) is undergoing peacefully in four districts of middle Assam. Polling is underway in total 35 constituencies of the in parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro) districts.
There are total 124 candidates are in the fray. A total of 3,08,409 voters will decide the fate of the candidates.
If necessary, repoll will be held on December 18. The counting of votes will take place from December 19.
“We will definitely win. After BTC, BJP will also form the Tiwa Autonomous Council,” said BJP MLA Ramakanta Dewri after casting his vote.
The State Election Commission has enforced strict guidelines in the light of COVID-19 pandemic. Masks and sanitiser have been made mandatory to enter the polling booth.
