GUWAHATI, Oct 17: Guwahati Police Tuesday carried out an operation to locate the country-made gun used by prime accused Saurabh Goenka in shooting dead Anjan Nath.

With Saurabh, arrested by Police on Sunday night, by their side cops walked along the Bharalu stream near Ulubari, looking for the exact location in which Saurabh had disposed off the murder weapon.

Guwahati Police commissioner Diganta Barah had on Monday said that Saurabh had confessed to throwing the murder weapon somewhere in the Bharalu stream near Rupnagar.

The sensational murder case had attracted statewide attention after the young man named Anjan Nath was shot dead by Saurabh at a busy street in Khanapara locality of Guwahati on Thursday night.

Saurabh was in a relationship with Anjan’s wife Geetashree Sinha and had, after a well-conceived plan with her family, shot Anjan dead with the support of his two associates who had helped him in procuring the gun from Bihar.

Seven persons — Saurabh Goenka and his two aides Arbind Ray and Govind Ray along with Geetashree Sinha, her parents and her younger sister — have so far been arrested by Police for their involvement in Anjan Nath’s murder.
