Pointers from Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s speech in Assembly

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the Assembly on Monday. Here are the pointers from his speech:

  • No communal violence in the past 5 years. We have laid the foundation of a new Assam
  • A peaceful Assam is the right of the next generation. Thankful to ULFA(I) for the release of Ritul Saikia
  • Shall make efforts to stop cow slaughter under provisions of Indian Constitution.  
  • MLA Akhil Gogoi brought comfortably to the Assembly by following full COVID protocols. Govt. discriminates against none.
  • Orunodoi scheme to 22 lakh families, distribution of old age pension, development in agricultural sector
  • 1 lakh people to get jobs; waiver of microfinance loans
  • Vaccination of 37 lakh people so far. Vaccination process to speed up during June-July
  • Goal is to provide vaccination to over 3 crore citizens
  • Request to Paresh Baruah to join peace talks
  • Assam shall be one of the top two states in terms of COVID recovery rate, mortality rate and disease burden rate
  • Construction of new bridge in Gohpur- Numaligarh
  • Focus on Agricultural sector for strengthening Assam’s economy
  • Stern action against illegal encroachment of Satra land
  • We shall keep our promise to revise NRC
  • No imposition of tax on Petrol and diesel this year
