GUWAHATI: On the last day of canvassing for the third phase of Assam assembly elections, NEDA convenor and minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in a road show at Bijni in Chirang district for BJP candidate Ajay Kumar Ray.

Taking a dig at Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Dr. Sarma said, “Plough will go to museum, lotus will go to Dispur.”

Plough is the party symbol of Hagrama Mohilary’s BPF, the party which reigned Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for three consecutive terms. It was ousted by BJP, UPPL and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) in the recent BTC polls.

BPF, a former ally of BJP recently joined hands with Congress-led grand alliance for Assam assembly polls.

The minister urged the voters to cast vote for BJP candidate Ajay Ray for the peace and progress of Bijni constituency. He also highlighted various welfare schemes taken by the BJP-led government.

The Bijni seat is currently represented by Kamal Singh Narzary of BPF.
