GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged the people to strictly follow the COVID19 guidelines set by the health department. Sonowal also stated that like 2020, the people of Assam will win this battle against the virus. On Thursday, 499 COVID19 positive cases were reported from the state.

Talking to reporters on Friday, the Assam CM said, “A number of flights from all over India arrive at Dibrugarh and Guwahati daily. We have enhanced the screening process and made it strict for everyone. COVID19 testing has been made available at these airports.”

Sarbananda Sonowal requested the people through media to avoid breaking the rules and remain united in this fight against COVID19.

“We request the people of Assam that everyone should strictly follow the guidelines and SOPs given by the Assam health department. The public should not take it casually and should understand the gravity of the situation. Like last year, this time, too, the public must cooperate and remain united with the Assam government in its fight against COVID19 virus. We want everyone to stay in good health and wish for it. The guidelines are already there and the health department is urging everyone to follow. The district health officials are working day in and out to help slow the spread,” said Sonowal.

The Assam CM stressed on creating awareness among the people about the public responsibility. “We will have to generate awareness among the people that they have a larger responsibility in this fight against COVID19. This responsibility is cleanliness, wearing mask, social distancing and also stressing others to follow the same. I believe that this time, too, the people of Assam will come out successful in the fight against COVID19. I urge the people of Assam to enjoy Bihu with discipline and following all COVID19 guidelines. This will ensure that our efforts to enjoy Bihu celebrations will be successful. As I have requested the people of Assam to follow the health department’s guidelines, I request the cultural artists, singers also to follow the government rules strictly, as disobeying will harm the society,” said Sarbananda Sonowal.
