Guwahati: The Assam Police on Wednesday arrested a person near Hajo in Kamrup district who had pasted army logo on his vehicle to transport drugs. The peddler has been identified as one Narayan Chandra Kalita.
Hajo Police seized the vehicle from Narayan Chandra Kalita. According to the police, Kalita is a resident of Nalbari.
“The peddler was using an army logo on his vehicle and stated that he was on COVID-19 essential duty. We suspected the man and on searching his vehicle we seized banned drugs from his car. Later we also raided his rented apartment in Nalapara, Guwahati where we did find a good amount of illicit banned drugs, tablets and a pistol,” said a police official.
The police also recovered vehicle number plates of states like Nagaland, Manipur etc from his rented apartment in Nalapara, Guwahati.
