Guwahati: Children and senior citizens should not venture outside amid Coronavirus outbreak, Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged yet again.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati Dr. Sarma requested persons above 65 years of age and Children below 12 years not to venture outside as they are the most vulnerable.
He also urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children/wards do not venture out in the localities and engage in outdoor games in localities.
Through the media Dr. Sarma urged the elderly people to remain at home.
Dr Sarma stated, “On my way to GMC I have seen many parents with their children who are definitely below 10 years of age travelling together which is not at acceptable. If parents aren’t concerned about their children then nothing can be done until and unless the laws are followed”.
He further added, “I request the people of the society to help us in this movement. The children aren’t only the property of their parents but are also the assets and future of the county. So please stop them whenever you find out children venturing outside alone or with their parents”.
“Similarly, Senior citizens above 65 years of age are at risk too. They must be stopped from venturing on the streets without any reason. Send them home whenever you see them outside. I request the people of the state to help us in this initiative”, said the Health Minister.
“It is to be noted, that people aren’t following the rules imposed on them during the 3rd phase of lockdown. People are opening their shops when the state government asked the shop owners to follow the 1/3rd rule. People are violating the pillion rule too which is definitely alarming. I request them to maintain the rules and regulations and maintain social distancing”, said Dr. Sarma.
