Owners having four lecha land will get house building permission in Guwahati: Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal along with minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya in a review meeting on Tuesday reviewed the progress and implementation of various projects under GMDA and GDD at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati.

CM Sonowal said that owners of even four Lecha plots would get house building permission under the Mukhya Mantrir Sahaj Griha Nirman Achoni.

He also directed officials to sensitise residents of Guwahati on building construction norms. CM Sonowal stressed that Assam falls in a high-seismic earthquake zone, so it is very important to adopt earthquake-resistant designs during the construction of houses.

The chief minister directed that the ground floors should be kept free for parking in all buildings. Also, there should be proper provisions for the differently-abled in all commercial buildings. He also directed the department to make provisions for rainwater harvesting, as there is water scarcity issue in various parts of Guwahati.

Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice, Cooperation and GDD, Santanu Bharali, Legal Adviser to CM, Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Guwahati Development Department, Chief Secretary Manindar Singh, Sanjay Lohiya, Principal Secretary to CM, were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Smart City project’s implementation status was also reviewed in the meeting.
