GUWAHATI: An overground cadre of proscribed United Liberation Front of Assam(I) was arrested at Moran in Dibrugarh by 9th Rajputana Rifles of Indian Army on Sunday night.
The cadre identified as Abhijit Chetia hails from Hahsora Chetia village of Sivasagar. According to reports, the arrested cadre maintained contacts with ULFA(I) leader Abhijit Asom alias Abhijit Gogoi over phone calls and Social Media and carried out illegal activities overground.
The team of Indian Army arrested the youth and handed over him to Moran Police Station. A four-wheeler bearing registration number AS04 BC3766, cash worth Rs. 1 lakh 23 thousand and 3 mobile phones have been recovered from his possession.
A Dibrugarh court has sent the overground ULFA(I) cadre to police custody today.
