GUWAHATI: A total ban has been imposed on guthka and pan masala containing tobacco in Assam from today.
The Food and Drugs Administration, Assam has prohibited the manufacture, storage, transportation, display, distribution or sale of Gutkha, Pan Masala or any chewing material containing tobacco as ingredients for a period of one year.
The department has made this announcement through a notification banning articles of food in which tobacco or nicotine are used as ingredients.
