GUWAHATI: Pranab Kumar Gogoi, a drilling superintendent of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited who hails from Assam’s Sivasagar district was kidnapped by miscreants along with one of his colleagues on Monday in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to reports, around 15 armed miscreants took away Gogoi and Ram Kumar, a radio operator of the oil drilling company from the drilling location in Diyun, on foot.
The family members of Gogoi in Sivasagar have requested the kidnappers to release him as soon as possible.
“I got the news art 8 AM. I humbly request the governments, company and the abductors to ensure his safe release,” said a sobbing Namita Gogoi, wife of abducted Pranab Gogoi.
Earlier Gogoi was working in Mizoram. He had joined on December 18 in Arunachal Pradesh.
“I request the abductors to keep my father unhurt,” said daughter of Gogoi.
So far, there is no confirmation on which group or militant outfit have carried out the incident.
Changlang district shares its borders with four districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Tinsukia district of Assam as well as with Myanmar. The area witnesses presence of militants more frequently.
Police and security personnel have been carrying out extensive search operations to ascertain the whereabouts of the oil employees.
