Non-performing MLAs will not get BJP tickets: Ranjeet Kumar Dass

GUWAHATI: In a move to achieve the target of 100 seats in 2021 Assam assembly poll, state BJP has decided not to give candidature to non-performing party MLAs for the upcoming assembly election.

The decision has been announced by Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

“Party has planned to prepare reports on the performance of our MLAs. Based on that report, non-performing legislators will be deprived of party tickets in the assembly poll,” Dass said.

“I will visit every constituency and look into the performance of the MLAs,” he added.

Meanwhile, reacting to state BJP preisent’s announcement, Hojai MLA Siladitya Dev said,”I support this decision. But before us, report should be prepared on the performance of the ministers. Because our performance depend a lot on their works.”

Mangaldoi MLA Gurujyoti Das said, “I will not speak about my own performance. It will be determined by the public. But I have spent less than one month in my quarter. Rest of the time I keep interacting with the people in my constituency.”

“It is his responsibility as the state president to question us. People will speak about my performance,” said Biswanath MLA promod Borthakur.
