GUWAHATI: What can be termed as a sheer irresponsibility and the insult towards the battle against Covid-19, a legislator from Assam has claimed that no one present at Nizamuddin Markaz has been tested positive with Coronavirus.

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam from Assam’s Dhing constituency has claimed that there is no connection of Nizamuddin Markaz with the spread of Coronavirus.

“No one from Nizamuddin Markaz has been tested positive for Coronavirus. Only a person died because of some other regular disease,” said Islam.

The controversial AIUDF MLA also alleged that media has been spreading fake news on Nizamuddin Markaz.

“See the name of the first infected patient in India. See the names of all other patients. Are they all Muslims?” Islam said.

In a Facebook post, MLA Aminul Islam also claimed that Jamaluddin, the first Coronavirus patient in Assam did not visit the Markaz in Delhi.

The irresponsible comment of the legislator has outraged different sections of the society as Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma had confirmed today that all the five Coronavirus patients in Assam attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz.

Four other attendees from Assam have also been tested Covid-19 positive in Delhi.

According to the latest report, among the total 152 Coronavirus cases in Delhi, 53 cases are linked with the religious event at Nizamuddin Markaz. These 53 people attended the event.
