GUWAHATI: Employees engaged with National Health Mission (NHM) in Assam will get a medical reimbursement of up to Rs. 5 lakh per year. This was announced by Assam health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday. This scheme has come into effect from 1st January 2020.
The announcement is expected to benefit around fifty thousand NHM employees and their families across the State. “Similar to state government employees the NHM employees with active contract will now get reimbursed for their medical costs. We have decided to reimburse them up to Rs. 5 lakh annually. Apart from the NHM employees the scheme will cover their children and parents,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The finance minister also stated that this scheme will also be provided to the around 50,000 TET educators of Assam in a couple of months. Teachers working under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan including state pool teachers will benefit from this scheme said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
