GUWAHATI, December 20: With an aim to reduce traffic congestion in Guwahati, Northeast Frontier Railway has planned to develop a bypass railway line in the city. It is expected that the bypass will allow the trains to skirt the city area since the closure of railway level crossings for considerable amount of time lead to traffic snarls in many parts of the city.

Chief public relations officer of NF Railway, Subhanan Chanda informed that his department has already initiated a survey to assess the feasibility of a bypass railway line in Guwahati.

“The final decision will be taken regarding the construction of bypass railroad once it is approved by the High-Level Technical Experts Team which is conducting the survey,” Chanda added.

On the other hand, the chief public relations officer of NF railway stated that it would implement 24 projects with a total cost of Rs 768 crore to improve rail connectivity in the northeast region. He further informed that New Guwahati Station would soon get additional rail lines for the convenience of the passengers.
