GUWAHATI: “Next 7-10 days will be difficult for us,” said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday as the number of COVID-19 positive cases is galloping in the State following the return of a large number of stranded people.

Dr. Sarma mentioned that a large number of people will return to Assam by Shramik Special trains and flights in next few days.  The return of the people will pose numerous challenges to the State Government.

Health minister Sarma also said that those who want to return should do so by June 10 so that the government can concentrate on tackling the floods from July.

“Those who want to come should try come within June 10 so that they can be in quarantine. And this chapter (of the stranded) will end, leaving us time to concentrate on tackling floods from July,” he said.
