NDFB finally disbands itself in Udalguri

GUWAHATI: Making an end of 34 year long history of insurgency, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) finally disbanded itself in Udalguri today.

The organisation which was the signatory of Bodo Peace Accord was disbanded at Sonai designated camp in Udalguri. All the factions of the NDFB except Gobinda Basumatary’s group were present at the disbandment ceremony.

“Since NDFB has signed the agreement, we have to implement its clauses. Therefore, we have disbanded the organisation,” said NDFB leader Dhiren Boro.

“It was a 34 year long struggle. It was not easy. I have become emotional today. Now our challenge is to rehabilitate our members. I hope, government will take steps for rehabilitaion,” said NDFB leader B Saoraigwra.

Founded as Bodo Security Force on October 3, 1986 under Ranjan Daimary, the separatist outfit renamed itself as NDFB on November 25, 1994.
