GUWAHATI: An employee of Oil India Limited (OIL) and a home guard were arrested at Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district for their alleged involvement in oil theft. Naharkatia police arrested the duo—identified as assistant operator Nirmal Phukan and home guard Parashmoni Deka from gas compressor complex under south bank of the OIL.
Police recovered a huge amount of stolen oil and other valuables from the two accused.
They had been allegedly carrying out the illegal activities at south bank area for a long period of time. Based on their confessions, another employee named Mukul Neog and home guard Debesh Mahali has been detained by the police.
