‘Mother Old Age Home’: Assam CM orders probe


GUWAHATI: Taking note of the ensuing mismanagement at ‘Mother Old Age Home’, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered a probe. The Guwahati-based NGO has been in the limelight after its internal affairs came out in the public domain through media reports.

There have been reports in the media of major disagreement between the two main persons who are running the old age home. This has brought uncertainty into the lives of the elderly living at Mother Old Age Home.

The Assam Government is concerned about the social security of the elderly who are dependent on the home. Take note of the current situation the chief minister has ordered Biswajit Pegu, DC Kamrup (Metro) to probe the matter and submit a report within 72 hrs. The CM has also asked Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog to personally investigate and take necessary steps to mitigate the issue as soon as possible.
