GUWAHATI, Aug 21: A college student from Dharamtul in Assam’s Morigaon district has been arrested by Mumbai Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) after he reportedly threatened to attack players of the Indian cricket team. Brajamohan Das was arrested on Tuesday by a team of Mumbai ATS following an e-mail he reportedly sent to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in which he allegedly threatened to attack players of the Men In Blue.

He also reportedly asked the BCCI to take action against terrorist outfits failing which he threatened to attacked players of Team India.

The Indian cricket team is presently in the West Indies where they are involved in a bilateral Test, ODI and T20 series.

The BCCI, upon receipt of the e-mail allegedly sent by Brajamohan from his personal laptop, contacted Mumbai police following which the team of Mumbai ATS arrived in Morigaon and took the young college student into custody.

Significantly, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), too, had received another e-mail from an anonymous sender. The e-mail claimed the Indian team could be the target of a terrorist attack in the Carribean islands. The PCB is reported to have shared details of the mail with the ICC and the BCCI.

It’s, however, not clear as to who had sent the threat mail to the PCB.

Mumbai Police produced the youth in court and is preparing to take him to the financial capital on a transit remand for further investigations.

Meanwhile, Brajamohan’s mother and neighbours said he is not mentally stable and had, in all probability, sent the threat mail to BCCI following his mental imbalance.

Incidentally, the youth had passed his HSLC examination with exceptionally high grades besides also clearing his 12th borad exam securing first division marks.
