GUWAHATI, Sep 19: Sensation prevailed in Morigaon after a young woman, a mother of a month-old baby, was apparently gang-raped and killed at her rented accommodation on Monday night.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was at her home with her newborn when unidentified miscreants allegedly broke open the door, raped her, and then strangled her to death, family members told police today.
The victim’s husband works as a security guard and was not at home when the incident took place.
The woman’s mother came to her daughter’s house and saw the doors wide open and the victim was lying dead on the floor, semi-nude.
Although police have launched a massive operation to arrest those involved in the grisly crime, no arrests were made till the filing of the report.
