GUWAHATI: A closed door meeting of Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) was held today at Jorhat Circuit House. Assam finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam Legislative Assembly speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami, Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Lok Sabha MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi attended the meeting.
The Mandal presidents of the party from Jorhat district were also present in the meeting.
The meeting reportedly discussed the strategy for upcoming assembly poll in Assam and its mission to get 100 seats out of 126 seats in the state.
Talking to media persons, minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there would be no impact of agitation of non-political organisations on election. Sarma said that the results of the election is only determined by the activities of political parties.
“It is upto the leaders of the movement whether they want to take the movement to political forum or not,” Sarma added.
