Men In Blue enter Asia Cup final, fans relish chances of another India-Pak summit clash

GUWAHATI, Sep 13: The Men in Blue stormed into the finals of the Asia Cup defeating co-hosts Sri Lanka in their third Super 4 match by 41 runs.

20-year-old Dunith Wellalage’s heroics with both bat and ball went in vain as the islanders, whose run chase really didn’t take off, kept losing wickets at regular intervals as they fell short of the target by 41 runs.

While India’s win sealed a final spot for Team India, it ended Bangladesh’s hopes of making it to the final.

Now, cricket fans are relishing the chances of another India-Pakistan final although either Pakistan or Sri Lanka can seal the remaining second spot for the summit clash.

The Lankans will face Babar Azam’s Pakistan in its final Super 4 match on Thursday.

Sri Lanka, the defending champions, are expected to make the most of their home advantage against injury-hit Pakistan at the Premadasa Stadium and the winner of the virtual semi-final will play India in the Asia Cup final on Sunday.
