Meghalaya to target bottom 20 schools in every district

PUBLISHED:

Tura: Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Saturday said that Govt. is initiating measures to target bottom 20 schools in every district and find out ways and mechanism to improve quality of learning in such schools.

In an inaugural ceremony of New Building of Wadananag Secondary School, Tura, West Garo Hills, the CM emphasized more on quality education.

“60% to 70% of schools don’t finish their syllabus on time before the final exams and that is the main reason the students flunk in the examinations. There are around 20 schools in South West Garo Hills where passing percentage is zero due to lack of proper quality education. So there is no use of money here, we just need a proper system to perform better” said the Meghalaya CM

He also added that the teachers should ensure that the syllabus is completed on time and asked the district officers to hold a meeting every month from the beginning of the academic year with different schools in order to know about the performance of the students and to make sure that the course is completed on time.

“We will have a very strict mechanism to monitor completion of course on time and we will start this from the next academic session” said Conrad Sangma.
