Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik attends 6th convocation of USTM

GUWAHATI: The 6th convocation of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) was held on Tuesday in the presence of Governor of Meghalaya Satya Pal Malik and a galaxy of dignitaries.

Altogether 1332 graduates were awarded degrees, out of which 10 scholars were awarded PhD degrees, 925 students were awarded Post Graduate degrees and 397 students were awarded Undergraduate degrees.

D.Sc. was awarded to Prof. Sanjay Deshmukh, former Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Life Science, University of Mumbai for outstanding contribution in the field academic administration and promotion of science, technology and innovation. D.Litt. was conferred upon Patricia Mukhim, Editor, The Shillong Times for her outstanding contribution in the field of education, journalism and literature. Satya Pal Malik, Governor of Meghalaya who is the Visitor of USTM had presided over this grand academic event and awarded the Degrees.

Addressing the gathering, USTM Chancellor M.Hoque said, “We aspire to become a world class university and appeal to all the stakeholders to join us in our endeavor to transform this university into a world class institution and participate in the nation-building process.”
